FBLA CONTEST

  • Remember, safety comes first. When doing any fundraising program, visit only those whom you trust or know well.
  • Have two or three students go to the local Chamber of Commerce meeting to present your program. Many businesses have a strong desire to support schools; they only need the chance.
  • Create a flyer designed specifically for your program. Advertise the flyer on local bulletin boards, have parents take it to work, and ask local stores to stuff it in their shopping bags.
  • Create a "hit list" of target buyers: community, businesses, booster club, accountant/attorney, Church, auto shop/dealer, friends/relatives, doctor/chiropractor, parents' employers, dentist/orthodontist, teachers, hair salon/barber.
  • Stop by local dentists, doctors, car repair shops and hair salons. Even if they already have one, they can renew now through your program. The publisher will simply add on to their present subscription.
  • "Keep it Quick" - Tell your customers this is a limited sale. Announce you are selling for only two weeks. People tend to purchase and sell more if the sale doesn't drag on and on.
  • Have a couple of students go to your school games, announce this offer and hand out order forms to everyone.
  • Give the program to your Booster Club.
  • Have parents sell at work.
  • Have every student buy one for themselves and for their families.
  • Encourage the sale of magazine subscriptions for gifts. With so many titles on the 60% plan you are sure to find something for everyone. Sell gift-subscriptions to parents for their children just in time for the holidays.
  • Send out letters to all parents, doctors, dentists, hair salons, etc. in your area asking them to run all their renewals and/or new orders through your organization. You're not asking them to buy anything that they don't already order and they will be helping support their local school.
  • Have each student pick 3 professional people who they go to in their area to sell waiting room magazine subscriptions to. Some examples are their hair stylist, dentist, doctor, local health club, auto repair shop, etc.
  • Allow your sellers to earn money on every subscription they sell.
  • Get other groups to sell for you, teach sales and marketing to young students, girl and boy scout troops. Allow them to keep 50% of all sales, you still make money while offering a service to kids in your area.
  • Have a student store? Order several popular magazines to sell in the store. Offer a 10% discount off the cover price, they save money and you make money.
